as far as the phoenix downs...they've used that item for reviving since the beginning if i'm remembering correctly...and the movie wasn't based off of ff7, it was a continuation of the story from that last little scene at the end of the credits...but thanks for your opinion

uhm...the thing with the girl in pink (Aerith) is that she was straight KILLED by sephiroth during ff7...phoenix down don't work on the dead...just the "fallen" allies in battles...she's gone for good...and there's nothing he could do about it because of the fact that at the time it happened, he was sorta being controlled by sephiroth

lol...true about the time...some movies i feel like that about...
as far as the fallen thing goes: no it's not technically death in the ff world...it merely means the character has exhausted thier vitality badly enough that they fall out for a while, until reivived...death's a little more permanant...

Nope, on the very first FF it was a potion called LIFE (although they changed it to Phoenix Down in Dawn Of Souls FF1).

dude the theme of advent children was forgiveness (cloud wanted to be forgiven for not being strong enough to save aeris an break sephiroths hold over him which in turn he gave the black materia up to sephiroth an did him a favor somewhat)much like the theme of ff7 was Life jeez logan u really need to play the game an get some much needed respect ff7 an advent children the japs are great story tellers

Heh. My NES FF1 is one cart I'd seal in glass if I could, I've already had to change the battery in it (I'm glad they made a drill bit to open those carts up; many NES battery games have been saved thanks to that magical toy)!

Advent Children was pretty, but the story wasn't all that great. But most people (myself included) wouldn't care. They're just watching to see the old ff7 gang back again and kicking ass. And it did it beautifully.
Oh, and with the whole Phoenix Down thing, they have not only the item, but the story loophole where someone will die anyway. If someone dies in a cutscene, they're gone for good. It's an old, old joke that most gamers make fun of constantly. For example:

i watched the movie both in japanese and in english, and to tell the truth, i loved it, up until the whiny sephiroth clones kept crying for their mommy. it was like every other scene "blah blah MOMMY!!!" "blah blah MOTHER!!1! >.<" it got dumb after awhile, and i'm prepared for the flaming, but sephiroth is over rated and to many fan girls are making people love Final Fantasy for the wrong reason (3/6 is still better, it was longer, had more characters and more immersive plot, as well as 1 up to 6) seven was ok, 8 made me want to cry, nine was awesome, ten was just another move with some interactive fightin and X-2 was atrocious.
The other gripe i had was that cloud and tifa are suppuse to be, what, their mid to somewhat late 20s by now? Why do they look like they are back to being 16, do people just not age around midgard or something? I wanted them to be older, not younger square. Other than that, it was a very good visual eye treat.

the point with thier non aging is most likely due to the fact that it's a VIDEO GAME MOVIE...and they weren't that young looking anyway...as far as sephiroth being overrated, yes, i agree to an extent...a lot of people went sephiroth nuts, especially when he appeared in kingdom hearts...I, however, do believe that he was one of the most interesting and dark badguys i'd ever seen in a video game, and instantly liked the character, even my first time through ff7...i loved 3/6...but 7's story and the materia system got me...i do agree with you, btw, on the x-2 being atrocious...can we say Charlies Angels + FF X = FF X-2
