So when I first got started with emulation it frustrated the hell out of me that you couldn't just download a game and play it, you had to first figure out what emulator to use, ensure it wasn't corrupt, etc. etc. So for my collection I sorted all games by emulator to open them and deleted the ones I couldn't open with any of emulators.

Anyway, my point is that I did this a long time ago, when Nesticle and KGen where just about the best emulators around, and I'm interested in updating my list to see what games work with the newer emulators. Are any of you guys at all interested in contributing to a giant database/checklist that for at least a few systems would list what games could be opened with what emulators?

We could start out with my list, which covers 1184 NES games and somewhere between 200-400 Genesis games (I updated it a while ago) for a handful of emulators, and then people could basically add whatever information they had to the lists. The idea is both for newbies who only want a few games to be able to easily play, and for the rest of us to be able to quickly see what the best working emulator is for any given game (e.g. if I want to play Castlevania, and Nester doesn't work, what options do I have besides Nesticle).

If you'd be interested in contributing to something like this, let me know and I'll post the basic files here, and I can merge in the other info everyone provides. If this seems like way too much work then never mind, but if everyone helped out it wouldn't be too bad...

I like this idea, mame.dk had something like this before they went down, I don't have much to contribute other than Raine is the absolute best emu for Street fighter 2, Final Fight and some other arcade games

I'm in, it will have to wait till i finally get some sort of new computer. the one I'm using now ran out of hard drive space. almost all my ROMs are "in storage" Frown

But when I do get a comp I'd be glad to help. will we have to play the game or just see if it loads?
