You know you watch too much Inuyasha when. . . .
You think the alphabet goes I-N-U-Y-A-S-H-A.
You are running from the mental home because you thought your little sword would transform. You also think that you can say, "IRON REAVER SOUL STEALER!" and it will destroy your enemies.
Your parents and friends think you are a total nutcase because you claim that you are from Feudal Japan and you keep asking where Kagome is. You also think that you are half-dog-demon and call yourself Inuyasha.
You dye your hair white and put fake dog ears and claim you're Inuyasha or Inuysha's son / daughter.
All you talk about is InuYasha until it drives your friends so insane, they chase you down with a high-heeled shoe while you high-tail it yelling some phrase you heard a character say.
You make a sword out of a huge paper towel roll and call it the Tetsusaiga.
You jump into every well that you see, just like Kagome (but there's a slight chance
you'ill end up in the hospital).
You run away from your home in search of the crystal shards.
You talk to fleas and expect them to talk back.
You swear your demon brother is out to kill you.
You begin calling every groping male you meet a "Miroku".
You walk up to a white dog and rub his ears; just to see what happens.
You begin telling people to "SIT!" instead of "shut up".

Unless the next movie actually gives you a good conclusion, or there are actually more episodes....don't waste your time. The ending from the 166-167 special was awful and left everything sitting there with no answers.
I used to be a huge fan of this show, until about episode 50+. I realized that the show has the nastiest habit of fillers and may never end. At that point, I gave up, and came back just for the ending. What a piece of rotting crap....
So, we either wait and see if there will be more episodes (there's a chance) or we watch the next movie with our fingers crossed.
Let's see if the creator can make me hate the show anymore than I already do.

The movie wasn't that bad i enjoyed it, as for the series... true they do keep adding new things, 26 episodes is enough for me, or maybe 30.

Funny fact about Rumiko Takahashi is that she's a rather traditional writer... thus, her stories tend to go on and on, quite intentionally. The one anime of her design I have yet to be turned off of is One Pound Gospel, though perhaps I ought to check to see if there's more than one hour of footage out there, or even some print floating around before saying that.

It's the same problem Ranma and Urusei Yatsura had.
I don't think Maison Ikkoku was very long though. It might be her only short-medium work in length.
One Pound Gospel has a manga around, not sure how many volumes though.
And one hour of footage doesn't mean the manga is short either (even though it might)
I"s = 15 Volumes
I"s series = 2 twenty minute OVAs (bad OVAs at that)
