| Since when do ROM sites comply with the law? |
 |
What the fuck is this? ROM sites say that they can't offer certain ROMs because the ESA gave them orders to stop offering them? Doesn't anyone know that ROMs are illegal to begin with? They've been illegal even before the ESA began giving these cease & desist orders, so why can't I download games I did download before, like Zelda II: The Adventures of Link? I hope that one day, all these ROM sites begin to sneak past that.

Right, we all know American law has jurisdiction the world over, blame it all on these laws.

You cannot blame America for something that everyone is doing. If you want to blame somebody, blame the companies outside of US for going to the US for these laws.

there are international agreements between all of the developed countries to respect each other's copyrights, so trust me its not just the US
all roms are illegal, but the esa only goes after ones that the copyright holders feel are still actively profitable and blah blah blah. a lot of companies like capcom turn a blind eye and leave the rom sites alone, though technically they could all shut us down if they wanted to since marvel vs capcom is copyrighted etc... Its all about picking your battles; if we decided to host zelda games nintendo would come after us and next thing you know romnation is gone and all roms with it, so we should just be glad that we have what we do have. a lot of sites out there say fuck the esa and have the protected ones so use google to find them, its not that hard.
and like I said about that dumb ass youtube kid. If people are so intent on having esa protected roms be my guest and host them yourself and quit your bitching. these roms are free and no one owes you anything.

Funny thought: it's funny to watch someone bitch about the esa/riaa/mpaa/gayaa and whatever then turn around and be Microsoft's butt boy. MS got stomped in Europe, so if you're really a butt hurt anti-US schlep then stop looking stupid and hate all those corps equally.

Truthfully, the laws are all crap. Theres still sites where you can get mario games and others just as big by nintendo (its not romnation and i ain't sayin which site it is). Nintendo may stomp on Romnation but that'll just give another site the chance to offer protected roms all for the sake of high traffic. and thank god for them.
A fine example is how napster popped up about 10 years ago and now theres limewire, and kazaa and morpheous. you kill one site it just births another.
