| Problem with Mame32 on my new PC... |
 |
I have a major problem with Mame32 on my new PC. When I load a ROM it either plays all slow and choppy or I can remove Throttle and it runs far too fast.... I've tried messing with all the options and seeing if I can tweak it somehow but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds to me like a refresh rate problem, ie the emulator runs at the wrong speed trying to match the refresh rate.
go into default game options/advanced
make sure you leave "synch with monitor refresh" unchecked
then enter the correct monitor refresh rate, ie 60 or 75. to see what your monitor is set on, right click the desktop, then click properties/settings/advanced and look on the monitor tab
let me know if this works, I had a similar problem too a while back and this fixed it.

re-read my instructions
you need to uncheck "synch to monitor refresh"
then the refresh rate box will be ungreyed and will allow you to manually set it

...huh...I'm stumped, not sure why it won't allow you to manually adjust it. Might need to play around with the other settings, like manually selecting the refresh rate might not be possible when the size is set to "auto".
Well anyway, try MAME out again and see whether disabling framskipping fixed your original problem.
If all else fails, you might want to re-extract MAME32 and start from scratch. Did you copy the entire mame32 folder from your old computer or did you start from scratch with a new version?

Umm.... I think there is one thing that you are not doing... you have the resolution set to AUTO.. well, change that out, do something manual in there. And you will get to change the refresh rate.. it's there. I do promise, and when you change the resolution, you can change the refresh.
I promise that when you change the resolution, you will be able to manually set the refresh rate.

why is some of the text in blue? did you edit it that way or was it like that? it might be just for gigawing, not sure to tell since I don't have the problem on my end. Try doing it in default settings and not for that particular game. Either way I am stumped, sorry bro. Checked google and everything and haven't found anyone else.
is your new pc XP or vista?

sounds exactly like the problem I had when I hooked my pc up to my new TV a few weeks ago, which I fixed by unchecking synch to monitor refresh and manually setting the refresh rate.
weird...I guess try an older version of mame32. no clue man
