God damn, this forum has been dead as shit lately. I guess everyone has all the roms they need, all the SF3 questions have been answered (for the most part), and there hasn't been a substantial update to MAME for a while so nothing is really driving traffic to the site. I guess the heyday of MAME is behind us, and unless they crack Naomi anytime soon it will probably stay quiet for a while.
Well anyway, what are the 5 games everyone has played the most on MAME? To check (in MAME32), go to view/arrange icons -->by times played. Scroll down to the bottom and see what your 5 most played roms are.
Mine are:
1) Street Fighter Alpha 2
2) Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
3) SFA3
4) SF Zero 2 Alpha
5) King of Fighters 2000
Well I guess if you have recently updated MAME this won't work. Oh well just make something up LOL

mentioning the playtime list isn´t really true, by updating for example, i had a view on the roms i own. following the games i really feel i played the most since i use M.A.M.E..
1.Street Fighter Alpha 3
2.NBA Hangtime
3.Street Fighter 3:3rd Strike
4.Neo Bomberman
5.Double Dragon
6.Mortal Kombat 2
7.Art of Fighting 3
8.Golden Axe (i wanted to beat this shit game with 1 credit but never made it
)
9.Samurai Showdown II
10.Vendetta
if i would be asked "in which game, overall, every platformn, did you invest the most time?"
i´d have to say:
Diablo 2
Diablo 2-Lord of Destruction
World of Warcraft
Diablo 1
Black & White
(my overall playtime from Final Fantasy 1 to X-2 may be more than all other games together. i loved these games, wanted to see EVERYTHING and to HAVE everything)

Is anybody interested in making an overall "emulation" top ten, sorted by genre? because there are and will always be threads in the different forums "woots teh best rpg/fighting game/adventure/shooter sidescroller/1st person shooter/game?" - "what´s the best game for SNES?". it will take some time to invest to get the different opinions together but i´m sure we can handle that.
i´m thinking of a new thread in the general section where the threadstarter always updates the first post and following all members can discuss why or why not <insert game name> should be in the top ten (of each category).
further more, we would have to decide which genres we take in.
what about this KIND of list and the link to the rom download?
1. Fighting Games (all)
1.1. 2D 1on1 beat ´em up (SF II)
1.2. 3D 1on1 beat ´em up (Tekken)
1.3. Sidescroller (D&D:Tower of Doom)
1.4. .....
1......
2. Sports Games (all)
2.1. Team Sports (any basketball, icehockey, socccer blah...game)
2.2. No-Team Sports (boxing, fishing, bowling....)
...
3. Adventures (all)
...
4. Shooters (all)
4.1 1st Person, Lightgun
4.2 Sidescroller
....
and so on.
So, which genre classifications should we use?
MAME only or overall?
do nothing, give a shit and look on another site?

1. Tempest!! (Always my favorite!!)
2.Yie Ar Kung Fu
3.Black Tiger (or Black Dragon, if you will)

5. Cyberball/ Metal Slug 3 (Tie)

As for which SNES game is best:

Although, Kirby's Dream Course has always been a favorite party game in my house!!
How about which Genesis game?
Skitchin!!!

Daaaamn, I thought I was the only one who remembered/liked that game. Kudos!
Anyway, my top 5, off just the MAME emulator (actually, this is off of the recent release and an earlier MAME, as older ones won't play the CPSIII games, which is all I use the newer version for, ((except for the current improvements on X-Files)), and MAME Plus! 105):
1) Red Earth (Gee, who knew?)
2) X Files (nothing to do with the show; it's another 'mature' match game a'la Tai Pei)
3) Rygar
4) Pyros (or Wardner, WTF the original name of the game is)
5) Ghosts 'N' Goblins

I know what you mean; at least the arcade version is a lot easier than the NES one. That version had me seeing red and bouncing the controller off a lot of walls.
And NES Advantages don't bounce too easily...

Yeah dude, I haven't checked RN in a while because the site was down for those few days and then I got into playing Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii.

oh yes they are. you just don´t see kirby grabbling up the thirds´s zombies neck.
to be honest, the most games don´t have kids graphics anymore.....but with N64, snes, nes...they had. just don´t like it and won´t buy it.
what was the best beat em up on a nintendo console ever? street fighter II turbo in 199x? i do not want to trash-talk bout nintendo....but i wont do a research if it´s true what i´m saying aswell. just-don´t-like-it-part 2.
i never liked Mario. resason 1: sonic is/was way cooler. 2: Mario´s wearing a mustache (did you know that ALL pedophiles i ever heard off were wearing a mustache?!) 3: he´s italian. a VR mascotte must not be an italian. i know italians. they want your girlfriend but NOT to jump around and/or eat mushrooms. 4. he´s tiny, fat and he´s wearing a mustache (did i mention that he´s wearing a mustache?). not the best idol for youngsters....
do not like nintendo. Part 3 :o
