Well, depending on what free games you're talking about, there are really a whole bunch. http://www.freemmorpglist.com is one of the better sites for finding them. Despite the fact that it is RPG in the name, don't think that they fail to show some FPS and others as well.

War Rock is a Free2PlayTM massively multiplayer online, modern tactical first person shooter (FPS) where players have the option to purchase a wide variety of gameplay enhancing items, services, and products.

I think this one looks particularly good. I've heard some pretty good things about it too.

And even if you dont like some of the ones there, there are plenty more.
