| Arcade gamers: CHECK MAWS first |
 |
If somebody could sticky this, it could (hopefully) help cut down on topics here with common problems.

MAWS is a resource of information on MAME roms. By using it, you can answer many of your own questions, such as:
Q: Does <insert game title here> work?
A: Check MAWS. Under the category, it will often denote if the game is known to not work. Other indications are the lack of a screen shot, and any statements under Additional Information stating that the game has bugs.
Q: I'm missing <insert file names here> from <insert rom archive here>.
A: Check MAWS. The data category lists the current files relevant to the game, including CRC information and the archive filename. Find the missing files, check which file you need, then for the love of Jeebus try to use Google before asking somebody for help.
Q: What version of MAME do I need for <insert game title here>?
A: Check MAWS. Under the Additional Information section, there are WIP notes about changes in the emulator pertinent to that game. This can give you a good idea about which is the minimum emulator version required.
