Hey i just recently got a new comp after my old one was stolen.
Unlike my old one which had a horrible processor and graphics card this one does not.
Now i am finally able to play Unreal 2004...even though its almost 2005.
(better late than never)
What im getting at (sorry i felt like explaining) is if anyone here plays it as well what graphics/sound cards and whatnot do you use?
Ive noticed that on a few maps, maybe because i like to have an assload of bots, it lags.
Not bad but everynow and then its jerky when fighting gets intense and theres a lot of things going on.
Ive turned down character detail and map textures etc. etc. but i think that my specs for the game to run may be exactly the default performance.
Im looking for a bit above...not drasticly above performance without having to invest in an actual gaming pc.
If anyone can lend a hand let me know something...thx.

Thanks Tootall, what i really needed to know was a good video card.
Im sure everything else is good but i know the video card is factory on this comp and therefor subpar.
Now last question...does anyone know if you can (if there is a way) convert say an mp3 or other audio extention to the .ogg files that Unreal uses for their music?
I saw that you could change tracks and even make a playlist ingame, so was wondering if you could put in your own.
I just wish i wouldve gotten this game sooner or a new pc for that fact, the game is awesome. The last one i played was i think 2003 when it first came out so its been awhile. I just spent like 4 hours downloading game mods, models, skins, voice packs, and DM levels.
<EDIT> Thanks Hitokiri, i didnt know lcds were like that...heh, what are they good for then...ive been using Heavyarms moniters for ever.
<EDIT>(again) Hey disregard the question about converting mp3 to .ogg...ever since i quit drinking my concept of everyday events has kind of went downhill...i figured out all i needed to do was copy the mp3 to the music folder...duhhh.
Nothing quite like listening to Lion King's "The circle of life" when youre sniping skaarj warriors.
I uh...have...a kid.

Pretty simple, there are 2 teams, and each team has a master energy node, the objective is to control all of the smaller energy nodes in the map, once your team has taken over all the smaller nodes you can destroy the other teams master node, and while all this is going on you can drive vehicles, kinda like battlefield 1942 but on steroids.

I have a Nvidia GEForce FX 5600, 3GHz P4 w/ 1GB RAM and it runs beautifully. Screen name jaundice, but I very rarely play and I'm not very good at all. I like Onslaught, b/c node-building and vehicle driving is a nice way for me to make myself useful if the other players are too good and combat for me to hold me own...

Well i just ordered a comp thats a 3.4 GHz P4 with 1 gig of ram, and it has a GEForce 5200 i believe.
The only prob i had is i had to set all the texture and character detail to low to get it to play withoul lagging.
And even then when a lot of bots would be on the map or if it was a big map i.e, onslaught maps for instance it would lag every now and then.
Hopefully my new system will perform better with those specs, and i should have it just in time for The Punisher game.
