Question X-Box Rom Emulation Reply to this Post Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Posts Report Post to a Moderator       Go to the top of this page

Im thinking of getting an crystal clear X-Box today, its a good deal, The console and a copy of Outrun 2 for £99, im very tempted.

Im aware that you can run mega drive roms through the x-box. But im not sure how this works?

Say ive lots of roms on Compact Disc i have burnt, would i be able to play them on the X-Box, or would this require a DVD?

Is it just mega-drive (genesis) roms which will work?

I would be happy if someone could help me make a a good 'impulse purchase' (ive a bit left on me third credit card, so today's a good day to max it).

Cheers folks

I've heard that emulators run on the Xbox using a certain type of modchip which you purchase independently and install by yourself.

But playing Emulated games on an Xbox? I'd rather buy a controller for the PC and play roms there and play Xbox games on the Xbox.

If you get an Xbox, might as well get Xbox Live too. That's where most of the fun of having an Xbox comes from. But if it's just games your after then maybe go for the PS2.

Yeah, i though it needed to be moded.

Im not really getting much from my humble gamecube. I just fancy an X-Box! And outrun 2!

No broadband though, so i beleive X-Box live would be a no go.

you can modify early x-boxes without opening them, something to do with a vulnerability in the font files, google around for it. later x-boxes need mod chips etc

there are HEAPS of emulators out there for xbox, have a look on zophar.net. with a large hardrive and a heap of roms you'd be set

I hope there are modCDs wherein you could just install it in the Xbox's HD. That would save a lot of trouble.

But then again, Xbox games are way better than emulated, i've got Halo2 and my xbox live is finally working then maybe i'll just forget about xbox emulation HAHA! Plus Doom 3 is finally coming to the Xbox on January 3, 2005! YAHOO! I hope it's Half Life 2 and World of Warcraft for the Xbox next HAHA. ~dreaming~

personally i don't like the xbox, which has been discussed before. i think the ultimate tv-connected emulation machine woud be one of those tiny shuttle pcs with a huge hard drive - shuttle.com
