Well the "POCKET SNES" is pretty much the GBA... it has the same memory sytem(approx 256) and plays graphic-ly enhanced gamesthat are very similar to the SNES ... keep in mind it has been almost 10 years since SNES came out & miniturization of computer components has improved aswell as processor speeds, etc... so in essance GBA is a SNES only alot smaller!

Actually, the site it now:
http://snesadvance.org/
The original PocketSNES web page address was stolen, so they changed the name.
It's still in early stages, but it's great... some of the best SNES games work really well, even though no sound is eumlated yet.

It's been out for a long ass time over in Japan and I've heard about a U.S. release (a couple of months ago), but I haven't physically seen anything yet.
If those things actually come out over here I'm picking one up as soon as I can.

No! 8-Bit will never die! They'll have to pry my NES consoles from my cold, dead hands (my light guns too)...

The eight games and the picture of the SP is like a special edition kind of like celebrating the 8-bit NES that revolutionized the gaming world. The eight games are just a selection only for the GBA. What this thread was about is basically being able to take all the NES and SNES ROMS, (not the original carts), running them through a converter program, and being able to play those exact same games on the SP in a GBA file. You'll need a special cart to be able to play them on the advance though.

The SNESAdvance does not convert roms. It's an emulator. Emulators do not convert roms, they simply interpret the registers used for one system and execute them properly for another.
Anyways, SNESAdvance was recently updated (after a long wait). I don't know if it's on the official site yet, but it is available from Zophar's Domain.
Note that it is still far from playing games, of course. But some work very well (such as Megaman X, X-Men, Super Mario World, Super R-Type) and some are beginning to work better (Ogre Battle finally displays graphics, despite heavy glitching and ultimately failing at the battle screen due to no mode 7 implementation).
I'm hoping that loopy and Flubba will transfer the project to the DS, since that will have more than enough power to emulate SNES games (sound and graphics). Unfortunately, the wait will still be long since first DS emulators with high compatibility ratings and/or flash carts will need to be developed.
