For those buying Vista: Which Edition would you buy and why? |
 |
The idea of this thread is to see of those who want to legally buy Vista, what edition they are buying and why, and not about why we should not be buying Vista (plenty of other threads about that). Also, it's not for people using free upgrade coupons or other methods where you can get it with a system.
Windows Vista can be bought now at many stores despite the Jan 30th official release. It is quite complicated to choose an Edition due to the myriad of editions, and buying options now available.
Also state if you will buy either the 32bit Edition, 64bit Edition, or the Edition which you can select either when installing. (Poll would be huge if I put them there).
Personally i'm sticking with Xp until its absolutely necessary to upgrade gaming wise though i'd like to avoid it as theres nothing overly wrong with xp its quite stable i hope someone can hack dx10/dx10 games to work on xp i'd rather not use vista bloated, drm, nsa's snooping pile of dog shit

Windows XP covers all of my needs & I don't buy vista until I really need it or Microsoft stops supporting XP.

I'd really like to see just what the public response to this is before I do anything with it. I'd hate to see this as another ME addition. *shivers*

Do you think this idea:
Vista is a "ME" version for XP like original ME for 98.

i only just got myself a new laptop (ASUS W5Fseries).....
i believe the VISTA requires a minimum of 2 gigs of ram.....
too much hassle, gonna stick with the XP for now, dont see anything wrong with it, plus i dont think ill need that VISTA until the next 5years.....

Vista= Memory Hog.
There is still a true lack of support for most hardware, and I will say that until they make the interface a bit more user friendly, Vista can set on the shelf. I won't think about it for another 6 months, when they will have patched the hell out of it, taken care of the minor bugs that weren't caught in the massive beta, and taken care of the memory leaks.

None of the above. They'd have to pay me to use Vista. And I don't even use XP unless I need to. In fact for the times I may need Windows i'm thinking about downgrading to windows 2000 on my Windows XP machine.
