Thread: Since when do ROM sites comply with the law? |

Funny thought: it's funny to watch someone bitch about the esa/riaa/mpaa/gayaa and whatever then turn around and be Microsoft's butt boy. MS got stomped in Europe, so if you're really a butt hurt anti-US schlep then stop looking stupid and hate all those corps equally.

Uh yeah, I mentioned that place just for the sake of it not to compare it to this thread. Btw, try seeing more of the thread and learn to recognize a joke.

Sheez, at the end it's really just about keeping a thread active for the longest time possible, isn't it? If you want to draw your hentai I found this site, nothing is denied due to offensive content there, you freaks.

Don't be ridiculous. It was not "a decision", it was just some nuttery from some isolated morons, hardly important, no need to pay heed to that. Santa can and will be the same old Santa as always.

I'm not defending this place - there's really not much going on here - but what's so great about that other forum? Granted the mame rom section is kept up to date but the forum is nothing special.

| If you read that article, you will see how Wii differentiated itself from PS3, and thats why its doing so well. |
Yeah, that's called marketing. I don't need to read an article and opinions to see the difference between the two. The bottom line for me is that regardless of anything, the price is the deciding factor, not anything else.
| quote: |
| Nintendo has sold 53 millions DS units, vs Sony selling less than 10M PSPs for the same reason and there is only a $30 price difference and they came out around the same time. |
The PSP cost significantly more when it came out, and even now the difference is more than $30, don't spin it.

The iPod is popular because people are ignorant, herdish morons, that's all. It sounds harsh, but that's the fact as I see it. Who needs that crippled DRM crapware when you can get a cowon, iriver and other brands that cost less, work better, don't need cruddy software on your PC just to run, and play ogg, flac, and several other formats? Mindless followers, that's who needs it. iPod sucks, so something being popular doesn't prove it's superior. The Wii didn't have overall competition, but there's no way it would have won anything had the PS3 cost the same. That's like saying people prefer honda civics over porsches because civics are cooler. The fact that few people are buying PS3 games in turn makes less worthwhile games created, which makes it suck even more.

If the Wii "won", it's because of price tag: prologue, middle and end. Compare things to the previous gen where the price tag differences among the competition didn't step into ridiculous, the gamecube didn't "fail" but it certainly didn't "win". In fact it's safe to say it did poorly compared to PS2.
But Wiiwii, suXbox, Gaystation, they all suck now, no matter the reiteration and juiced up specs.

Thread: The Oldest Rom Site |

The first site I ever got roms from was some long dead site with something like Emux in the name. Got roms to play neogeo games on mame dos, win 98.
The actual first webpage ever that hosted rom files, who the hell knows. I'd be pretty hard to say which was first.

Wiki and articles eh?
1. A wiki about some unreleased game that's about a year away? Holy fuck, get real.
2. Wiki article as absolute proof? Same as above.
3. Do you think they are now going to admit it and not instead try to spin what they said?
I told you to believe what you want, there is no proof for what I read about a year ago unless I take you back in time to that moment. I'm sure they changed their mind well before release, but like I said, it's not like I was keeping up with this.
It was simply a comment on how dx10 and vista adoption was over-estimated, no more no less. No one is complaining here except you about my comments.

I'm not sure what you said with that missing punctuation, but I'll try. It was planned to be dx10 from the very beginning, and since then I didn't keep up with any of the story. No, I don't care if you think it's bull, or if you have no clue about it, I know what I read. It's a definite backpeddal in the face of the Vista failure. A lot of other game companies are doing the same about this dx10 vaporware. Something by the name of dx10 will surely start being developed on for games at some point probably, but it surely fell short of expectations to the time tables.
And more than that, that's not the point. The only important thing is that the game is hype and needs absurd hardware. It's the hardware that's the big deal, not the 3d api. Of course paying up the wazoo will produce a lot higher capabilities. It better.

No shit, learn to read, and write while you're at it. That's why I said this:
| quote: |
| so they scrapped the DX10 thing, or is this only for Vista? |
Implying Crysis was planned as exclusive dx10, and that was scrapped.
------
| quote: |
| some cleaver people have figured out how to get dx10 features into the dx9 version obliviously running it on xp works better yay |
All this proves is that dx10 is mostly codename hype without much real technical merit. The only real revolutionary thing here is convincing people to go out and buy yet more expensive hardware with this API hype.

Haha, so they scrapped the DX10 thing, or is this only for Vista?
From the demo, I can tell that it's hype that needs silly hardware specs that don't even exist on common PCs right now (to run high details).

I haven't bought anything else since that last Trust pad I mentioned buying on ebay. I don't feel like spending several hundred on an arcade stick anymore when I could buy a lot else instead, not to mention it seems like that market is full of flimsy product scams. If I get a ton of $ one day maybe I'll play around with a real arcade kit set. Until then maybe a better pad, who knows, but I have officially given up on real PC gamepad brands. Maybe I'll give those saturn-ish pads a try sometime just for shits, if I can find them from a reliable source that is. Then again maybe not.
