Well that does help some, but I was hoping to get some help from some people as to what vertical games are worth the trouble to download and get working. I did find a lot of games, a few of them were okay but most of the ones i downloaded sucked.

So of those fifteen thousand vertical games, which ones don't suck?

Tall screen (vertical) Games 04-29-2007 05:04 Forum: Arcade

I don't know if that's the right way to put it or not so I'll describe what I mean. Ive got a few and im looking for more games that are designed to fit the screen better if one uses the -rol or -ror switch and turns the monitor on it's side. Since im building a cab out of a nintendo vs. dual head upright cab and the monitors just fit better on their side. The monitor I am currently using is a Cornerstone p1500 and it is a humungus crt with a built in video switch. The monitor lays on its left side in the cabinet and the games are rotated 90 degrees to the right with arcadeos. This is fine for some games, but others are designed for use with a monitor that is in the cabinet the usual way.

If you are looking for games like the ones I am after, here are a few that I've found.

PacMan (puck man, ms pac man, pac man plus etc.)
Pinbo
Pinball Action.
Aero Fighters
Aero Fighters II (sonic wings)
Galaga
Mr. Do
1942
Donkey Kong
Drift Out
Frogger
Mario Brothers
Space invaders

Asteroids is also quite playable on a monitor on it's side, leaving it in the horizontal position. Since the dynamics of the game depict a top down view, there is no need to rotate the screen except for the text which isn't that important :-D.

If anybody knows of any other games that I can use with a tall (not wide) monitor, please respond to this thread!

Thanks Advil.

Favorite games of all time 01-14-2007 23:13 Forum: Arcade

It's probably been done before here but if theres a thread already I didn't find it.

What Is your favorite arcade game of all time?

From greatest to least...

1. PacMan / Puckman
2. Cyber Sled
3. Pinbo
4. Aero fighters
5. Puzzle Bobble (Bust a move) 1&2

Theres lots of others that have a place in my heart, but if i can only list five then these are the first to pop into my head as having eaten many a hard earned quarter of mine back in the day.

IT WORKS!

Thanks a million man, yes, in order to get the original pacman (midway) rom to play you do indeed have to also have "pucman".

Thanks again for helping me with this, you have made my day.

Sorry as a fix to the above message...

I was wrong about the files missing because I was trying to be quick about it. The files are actually...

pacman.5e
pacman.5f
82s123.7f
82s126.4a
82s126.1m
82s126.3m

And again does anybody know where I might find these files?

Pacman Help 01-11-2007 17:11 Forum: Arcade

I think that there are files missing from the pacman rom on the site because I too downloaded pacman.zip (PACMAN (MIDWAY)) and tried to run it through mame32 and dmame with no luck. When I run it through dmame in a dos console window, It gives me some error messages after failing to load the game. Those error messages are as follows...

pacman.5e NOT FOUND
pacman.5f NOT FOUND
pacman.7f NOT FOUND
pacman.4a NOT FOUND
pacman.1m NOT FOUND
pacman.3m NOT FOUND
ERROR: required files are missing, the game cannot be run.

So you see, according to this error message there are indeed files missing. The question is where can I get these files? I have been playing the pacplus rom on my cab using arcadeos and dmame but it's just not the same, the small differences are driving me crazy.

If theres anybody out there running a mame cab that can help me get the original pacman roms going, I would be most greatful. There is a deli in town that has an original cab that i've been feeding the need with, but I'm running out of quarters :-}
