Help me get a US release of Melty Blood 07-09-2006 06:59 Forum: Console Gaming and Emulation

So, Japan is getting a PS2 version of Melty Blood: Act Candenza, and, the US isn't. So, I made a request in Atlus' request forum about getting a US release for the game. Unfortunately, the chances of this amounting to anything are, really, quite low, but, I'm hoping. So, if anyone here is like me and would like to see a domestic release of this game, please reply to my request saying so. It'd be helpful. Also, if you don't know what Melty Blood is, it's a 2D fighter, and, you can see some screenshots on the page with my request. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me. ^_^ b

You know, it's funny that you should mention that, as, despite them having at least a hundred or so different questions, I not only just got a repeat, but, it's the exact same one I got on friday... Go figure. It's the first time I've gotten a double though.

O.O

I love you so much right now... but... which of the two Nocturne in the Moonlight links should I use?

EDIT: Wait, nevermind, I figured it out; I need BOTH!
. . . How obvious THAT was makes me feel rather stupid. Frown

Umm..... what might this be?
I can't view it.

Yeah, me either... said I was either not logged in or didn't have privileges, or... something.

Anyway, about the spamming, I'm not going to ask you to ban anyone from your board or anything, (really, I don't see how that could make things anything but worse), but, would you ask him if he's doing it, and, if so, ask him to stop? Kameo seems rather certain that it is him, so, it's at least worth a look, even if you don't hold Kameo in highest regards. I'm sure it'd be quite appreciated by the people on this forum. ^_^

EDIT: I just read this thread, http://vulgarosity.com/forums/index.php?...205.msg1914#new, so, sorry about that last comment, as it seems you've already looked into the matter and know it wasn't him. I'm just gonna over here and shut up now. ^_^;

Well, it's interesting, but, if what abobo said is true, then, I don't see it's use. It's grand that it can greatly compress 3D stuffs, but, without being applicable to the fields that compression like that is needed in, it's rather useless. Six minute audio files compressed to less than 10KB would be a staggering revolution in the online world...

On that line, though, has anyone noticed the compression ability of Flash cartoons? I have a 631 Kb flash that has the whole Dragostea Din Tei song in it, yet my MP3 of the same song is over six megs. The sound quality of the flash song isn't as good, but, at the same time, it's not at all bad. Why hasn't anyone taken whatever is making those files so small and used it to make a new audio format? Always seemed odd to me...

You know, I get that this may sound stupid and all, but... why don't you just ignore the spam on the forums? It may be annoying as all hell, but, the mods can just whack the user and delete/edit his posts, and, chances are, if you ignore something, it usually will stop.

I mean, I don't KNOW anything about forums or any of the consequences spamming a forum might have, or anything about the forum 'stability' you guys were talking about, so, maybe there are consequences that come about from spamers, but, this forum has seen hundreds of posts without any issues, I don't get why a spammer would be much of an issue. Besides, from what I saw, he was just posting images again and again and again in his posts; why don't you just disable the image tag? Wouldn't that at least greatly curb how annoying he is?

Of course, like I said before, I haven't been around and know next to nothing about forums, so, to say this statement is uneducated is an understatement, but, that's just what I think.

I use Firefox, but, I don't really like it all that much more than IE. The only thing it's really got going for it is tabbed browsing, and, all that does is keep the bottom of my screen clutter free, so, it's not that big a deal. Unfortunetly, for whatever reason, IE closes on my computer whenever I click on any links, or right click on it, so, I stopped using it. Think my computer's screwed up or something. Either way, though, both work great and I don't really have problems with either.

Also hear that Opera's pretty decent. Never used it, but, that's what I hear.

Her face isn't that bad, either. Still... someone should send her a box of donuts or something.

Actually, someone should also send me a box of donuts too, I love donuts.
...
...
But... now that I think about it, they'd probably get all smushed on the way here, and get all hot and the jelly would stick to stuff... yeah. Getting mailed a box of donuts would suck. Perfect thing to do if you don't like her though. Get, like, glazed donuts with some kind of jelly, pack 'em up, and send them to her via normal mail so they get bounced around a lot and stuff and left in the sun.

It'd be pure evil.

http://www.nationstates.net/

Anyone else ever play this? I made a region and am trying to get as many people to join it as possible. I mean, there's no real advantage to it, as I'm not a UN member yet, but, you know, it feels good to be surrounded by peoples in a group you made.

^_^ b

Anyway, if you don't know what it is, Nationstates is a nation simulation game, though, it's not all too in-depth like you might expect. You just choose what stand you take on proposed laws and watch your nation go. Oh, you've also got to sign in every now and then, or else. I used to have a better nation, but, then my interwebs got canned and now, -siff-, my poor 15+ million population is doomed to a life in limbo... blind... leaderless... probably happier...

Anyway, yeah, you should play, it's entertaining for as easy as it is, and it doesn't demand a whole lot of attention.

I'm pretty sure that it's against the rules for me to point you to DC games, but, I haven't been here in a while, so, it might be okay now. Either way, though, I'm not going to risk it. Your best bet is to look through some Bittorrent Indexers for DC ISOs, that's where I got all of mine. They're pretty easy to track down.

Could also have something to do with the fact you didn't really have to DO anything to get a DC to play burned games. Roll Eyes

Anyway, I don't know why Sega failed, but, I don't think it had to do with not reviving their classic games. Looking at Sony, I think that pretty much proves it. They seem just as content to let older classics fall to the wayside in favor of the newer faces, and are quite successful for it.
Something big going against Sega was the fact that, as a developer, every commercial failure hurt them, as opposed to Sony, who loses nothing over it. Without producing exciting new faces, Sega wasn't doing anything other than hurting themselves with each release. That said, I suppose that, if Sega had brought back some of it's earlier classics, then, it might have done better, but, not any more so than if they had produced a viable new face. Sega also seemed rather anti-RPG to me. Really, I know the PSO games, Grandia II, Hundred-Swords, I believe it was, and Skies of Arcadia for the DC. That's it for RPGs. There were probably more, but, you never heard about them. Also, their third party support wasn't so great; They may have had the SFIII series going for them, but, if they had also procured the exclusive rights to the FFs, Metal Gear, Castlevania and, ohhhhh, say, Megaman series, chances are that the DC would not only still be around as a huge success, but, also that Sega would've had first pick of the new titles from those companies. And Konami, Capcom, and Square are not companies to scoff at that right about. Also, like Kameo mentioned before about Nintendo, the DC also had a rather pathetic ad campaign; at the very least it never gained the DC the hype Sony generated for the PS2. I know plenty of people who sold their DCs to buy a PS2 when it came out, just because it was supposed to be soooo much better.

With all that said, I still think that sega could make a really successful console right now, if only they focused on what the DC lacked. Spanning a wide range of genres, obtaining decent exclusives, really, it's quite feasible, albeit quite unlikely. Microsoft and Sony seem to have locked up everything they can in terms of decent exclusives, Sony more so than Microsoft.

Final Fantasy VI and Romancing Saga 3 are tied for my favorite SNES games, but, I love a lot of other SNES games too. In particular, Front Mission, Seiken Densetsu 3, Demon's Crest, Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Flashback, Clocktower, and Super Castlevania IV are always on my comp. Most other games pop on and off at varying frequencies.

Oh, and Paper Boy 2 is the shit. Still have no idea why everyone and everything wants to kill you, but, hey, whatever.

Normally I don't bother looking for games with a search engine if I don't know their names, but... I typed Firebrand NES into google and the first thing that popped up was his Wikipedia page. XD

Anyway, the games are called Gargoyle's Quest, for the Gameboy, and Gargoyle's Quest II, for the NES. ^_^ b
It also turns out that there is a petition to Capcom to make another Arremer game. Too bad that no one important really cares aobut those...

Well, if they remade Splatterhouse now, it'd be either on the PSP or DS, not the GBA, so, they'd have more to work with. I imagine that there are some severe limits on what can be done with a GBA cart. Besides, I don't think it'd really matter what console it came out on, it'd just be another third person action game, and not many of those are particularly great, and the ones that are all remind me of Devil May Cry...

The FF4 that hit the US on SNES was the easy version of the game anyway, and I know a lot of people that had problems with that, so, I'm not too surprised that they toned down it's difficulty again. They did the same thing with the original FF in the Dawn of Souls game. But, yeah, overall, I'll agree that I'm not a fan of the GBA remakes I've played.

But, about the exclusive games, I can't agree that they're dumb and kiddish. Well, depending on your definition of kiddish, anyway. Most of their games are targeted at general audiences, so, they won't throw in a lot of swearing and violence or anything like that, so if that's what you mean, then I agree with you. But if you mean that the games are build for preschoolers with non-existent difficulties and cute teletubby style characters, I disagree. For example, the three Castlevania games that have come out on it. They may not be as hard as the original NES games, but, they're on par with SotN in terms of difficulty. Plus, they have a lot of areas to be explored, things to be found, some particuarly evil bosses, and the characters most definitely aren't kiddish. Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga may have graphics that a little kid would love, but, I doubt any of them would finish the game. And even if they could, that doesn't really matter, the game itself is great fun, or, at least I though so. At the very least it's better than Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door. The Pokemon games are still fun and addictive, even if every twelve year old in the country happens to be playing them, and I don't think that they should be degraded based solely on that fact. The games offer a surprising amount of depth, especially if you get into the breeding thing. Really, I spent the last few weeks breeding an almost perfect Ghastly with great IVs, moves, gender, nature, and sticking all my EVs where I wanted them. Of course, some people may have less than nice things to say about that, but, I don't see how it's any worse than wasting that same amount of time on World of Warcraft or Everquest or whatever else. Advance Wars may not be another Panzer General, but it is a great tactics game: it's got depth, each CO changes how you have to play, and it has enough unlockables to keep advanced players playing for a while. The Sonic Advance games, are, well, Sonic games, and they play well and are about as difficult as the original games. I'm not even going to bother mentioning the Metroid, Megaman Zero and Fire Emblem (Which I don't really like too much) games. Really, I think the majority of GBA exclusives are pretty good, and, like you said, all the remakes SUCK.

Anyway, my vote for worst GBA game goes to... uh... probably Spyro: Seasons of Ice, I think it was (Which, ironically, i think is an exclusive XD). I got it from a friend with my GBA and I really hated it.

Looking for two games 01-13-2006 14:39 Forum: Console Gaming and Emulation

I was reading through a Demon Crest walkthrough and it said, "The third game in the Firebrand series sees our anti-hero ready to finally claim the almighty power he has strived for. After incarnations on both the Gameboy and the NES, Firebrand settles down onto the SNES in a different style from the previous games; gone are the top-down RPG-elements and now it's an all-action brawl to the finish with some of the most insanely-hard battles to have ever existed!"

Now, I know that 'Firebrand' (Could have sworn his name was Red Arremer or something like that) was in the Ghouls and Ghosts games, but, from the top-down RPG description he gave, he's obviously not talking about those. So, does anyone happen to know the names of the other two games?

Thanks for any help you can give me. ^_^

Eh, depends on the game. A text game it would ruin, but, something like RS2 I wouldn't have an issue with it using on; I'd still be fighting all the battles, and, I wouldn't let the walkthrough tell me how to form up my parties. Might not sound like much, but, that's where all the fun in the SaGa games was anyway. The puzzles never interested me and the stories were never all too great; it was all about the battles and I don't think a walkthrough could spoil that for me... well... save the Saw against the Creator thing. I wasn't too pleased about that one.
